The Redland community in Wetumpka continues to grow with more than 230 new and existing homes selling during the past year.

The tranquil rural atmosphere in south-central Elmore County is attractive to residents, especially those with elementary school-aged children.

“Wetumpka is absolutely growing,” Realtor Belyn Richardson said. “Buyers are drawn to this area because of its proximity to shopping, restaurants and entertainment in both Wetumpka and Montgomery.  Buyers like the rural but sophisticated feel to Redland and the fact the school system is growing and moving forward.”

She added that the recent announcement by HGTV that the ‘Hometown Takeover’ show was coming to Wetumpka exemplifies the charm that downtown Wetumpka offers.

From Redland, residents are not only just 15 minutes from the Capital City but also near a popular public elementary school and recreation options.

“Convenience to Montgomery and Wetumpka offers different opportunities,” Richardson said.  “For example, a short drive will get you in a kayak in Wetumpka to float down the Coosa River.  Traveling in a different direction, you can take in a play at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival or an airshow at Maxwell (Air Force Base).

Redland offers both new construction and existing homes. “Crime is low,” Richardson said. Homes range in age from those built many decades ago to new construction. The terrain includes flat, gently sloping and hilly lots.

“Redland is quiet and laid back,” Richardson said, adding that buying in the Redland community is a good investment. “Home values are on the rise in this area and are literally flying off the shelf.”

One Redland home is for sale for $295,000 and includes four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms within 2,742 square feet of living space.

“As you enter the home you have wood floors in the entry and in the dining room to the left,” Richardson said. “A huge living area has high ceilings and a fireplace with gas logs that opens to a breakfast room and kitchen.”

Stainless steel appliances, a spacious master bathroom with a whirlpool tub and separate shower, and a half-bath conveniently located in the middle of the house are some appealing features of the home.

On the outside, a covered back porch, attractive landscaping, privacy fence and a large backyard set the stage for outdoor fun. The home was built in 2004.

“The home is well loved, has had one owner and has been well-maintained,” she said. “All that makes this home move-in ready.”
